  • How do you know what animal is right for you?
Determining if an animal is right for you involves considering several factors to ensure a good match. Start by evaluating your lifestyle, living situation, and the amount of time you can dedicate to a pet. Think about the animal's energy level, size, and temperament, and how these align with your activity level and home environment. Spend time interacting with the animal to gauge their personality and how they respond to you and your family. Our team is here to provide insights and answer any questions to help you make an informed decision, ensuring a happy and harmonious adoption experience.
  • Why is it mandatory for the animals you adopt out to be spayed/neutered?
Spaying and neutering are mandatory for all our adoptable animals as part of our commitment to ending shelter overcrowding and reducing the number of homeless pets. By ensuring that every animal is spayed or neutered before adoption, we help prevent unwanted litters and contribute to the overall reduction of stray and abandoned animals. This policy is a crucial aspect of our mission to promote responsible pet ownership and improve the lives of animals in our community.
  • Why is it mandatory for the animals you adopt out to be vaccinated?
Vaccinations are important and mandatory for all our adoptable animals. Ensuring that each pet is up-to-date on vaccinations is crucial for their health and well-being, as well as the safety of other animals and people they may come into contact with. Before adoption, our animals receive all necessary vaccinations to protect against common diseases and infections. Adopters are expected to continue following the recommended vaccination schedule to maintain their pet's health and compliance with local regulations.
  • Why wasn’t I selected to adopt a pet?
There are many reasons that we may select one home over another for pet adoption. Our primary goal is to ensure that each animal is placed in a home that best meets their specific needs. Factors such as the pet's temperament, energy level, and any special requirements are carefully considered alongside the adopter's lifestyle, experience, and environment. By matching pets with the most suitable homes, we aim to promote successful adoptions and lasting bonds between pets and their new families.
  • Why wasn’t I selected to foster a pet?
Please see our Foster FAQ page for more information.
  • Do you have the history of the pet I want to adopt?
The full history of adoptable animals isn't always available, as many come to us as strays or from situations where their background information is limited. While we strive to gather as much information as possible about each animal’s health, behavior, and past experiences, there may be gaps in their history.
  • Do you have a veterinarian on site?
We do not have a veterinarian on site, but we work exclusively with Dr. Bott at Mountain West Vet Clinic. Dr. Bott is a highly experienced and trusted veterinarian who provides exceptional care for our animals. We recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. Bott for any medical needs your new pet may have.
  • Do your animals get professional training?
While basic training may already be provided for some adoptable animals, prospective adopters are encouraged to continue training and socialization efforts once they bring their new pet home. Our team can offer guidance and resources to help address behavioral issues or work on training goals with your adopted animal. Additionally, we may offer training workshops or provide access to online training resources to support adopters in their efforts.
  • Do you offer professional training after adopting a dog?
While we don't offer in-house professional training after dog adoption, we are happy to recommend trusted trainers in the area. Our team can provide you with a list of certified trainers who specialize in various training methods and can help your new furry friend adjust to their new home. We believe that a well-trained dog is a happy dog and are committed to supporting you in finding the right training resources.
